Citizens Advice is a well-known and highly respected organisation that has been working across the UK since 1939, with a presence in Solihull since the 1960’s. We provide a wide range of information, advice and support to the local community in Solihull – advising on anything from benefits, debts, energy problems and employment issues, to relationships, health and wellbeing.
We have a dedicated team of staff and a number of skilled volunteers who all work on a wide range of projects. We are always busy but, over the last 2 years with the impact of the COVID19 pandemic, the need for our services has been higher than ever. We’ve worked with over 4,000 people to help them to resolve more than 11,000 issues, while also running proactive initiatives to support vulnerable members of the community.
We have a small Board of Trustees that helps guide and govern the CASB. The Trustees work with the Chief Executive to shape strategy and give direction. We are looking to increase the size of the Board and also develop the range of skills available, to ensure that we are fit for the many challenges ahead.
This is a rewarding voluntary position and we currently meet every month over Zoom. Outside of meetings, Trustees may be required to give additional support, such as working with the Chief Executive on key projects. If you would like to influence our work in the community, this is a great opportunity to gain experience as part of a Board (and maybe as a stepping stone to a paid Board directorship in future).
The appointment would initially be for a 3 year term with the possibility of renewal. We would welcome applications from anyone with an interest in joining us but particularly welcome applicants with expertise in any of these fields:
- Legal; Company and Charity Law
- Human Resources
