Hi everyone, we just wanted to update everyone on the progress of the Tree of reflection – 11 August 2021
The engineering firm, BR Engineering, has nearly finished building the skeleton of the tree. We have a team who are very busy making blossoms for the tree. We have lots of people from our community decorating the butterflies and circles. See the examples below they are really beautiful:
The following people and services are all busy decorating the circles and butterflies for the project, it is truly a community effort.

The build will start in the Core Gallery on the 1st September, this is when we will be constructing the tree and hanging all the decorations onto it. We can’t wait to see the end result and look forward to everyone visiting the tree to see what our community has achieved.
Article from July 2021
The Citizens Advice Solihull Borough Social Prescribing Link Workers are working with the local community to create a community art project.
Through our work we have seen how the Covid 19 Pandemic has impacted on the mental health of our community. People have lost loved ones, been isolated, frightened and more alone than they have ever been in their lives before.
The opportunity to express some of those feelings through a piece of art can help to start the healing process and recovery from the shared trauma of the Pandemic. It will give people the opportunity to express how Covid 19 has made them feel.
We wish to create a tree of reflection that is interactive, thought provoking and a permanent reminder of how we have come together to support each other through this devastating time.
We are working with a local artist and have designed a Blossom tree. We have a local engineering firm building the skeleton of the tree and we are going to build the tree in the Solihull Library Courtyard gallery from 1st September – Monday 13th September 2021.
We are asking the community to decorate wooden circles to reflect what they have experienced during covid, what they have learnt about themselves during this difficult time and hopes for the future.
We have wooden butterflies for people to decorate who have lost a loved one during covid. This has been such a difficult time for anyone who has lost a loved one, people have not been able to attend funerals or have their friends and family around them to support them in their grief. We hope this will help in a small way.
We will then hang these decorations on the tree and people will be able to visit the Library and see their artwork displayed from 13th September – 27th September and hopefully get some comfort from this shared experience.
Please call 0121 779 6707 if you would like to be involved.
We will keep you all updated on our progress and we are really looking forward to you all seeing the finished Tree Of Reflection.
Thank you.
